Simon Gray launched Boost Drinks in 2001, aged 28, after spotting that people wanted functional drinks that tasted good at a fair price, and that the big brands were overlooking independent convenience stores, where most people bought them. Self-funded and run by a team of just 35, Boost grew to £75 million in turnover before A.G. Barr acquired it in 2022 in a deal worth up to £32 million.

That same thinking brought Simon back into the drinks market. It's Giving, the first brand from his new business, Fizz with Purpose, is a £1 gut health soda in a category where most brands charge far more, on the same shelves.

Simon sits down with Josh on After the Handshake to discuss building a challenger brand without outside investment, the 7am Monday call where he told his team about the sale, and why he's so excited to be doing it all over again.
